How to Shift Out of Scarcity & Into Abundance

I’ve recently been thinking about scarcity and abundance and how we can have too much of one thing and not enough of another.

There is actually a Universal Law, backed in science, that says we can have an abundance of scarcity or an abundance of wealth. It’s a sliding scale and you may be sitting in the middle or be firmly at one end or another. Where do you think you are on the scale?

Our abundance is programmed into us by the age of five, from what we receive in from society, our parents, teachers, peers, etc. In fact, I’ve been exploring my abundance set point recently and was quite shocked to realise I’m currently focusing quite a lot on scarcity.

I’ve noticed how I’ve been saying to myself ‘I don’t have time’, ‘I don’t have as many leads as last month’, ‘I don’t have enough’ or ‘I can’t afford’ that. Scarcity and abundance don't just show up as numbers in your bank account, it can actually influence many different areas of your life. From not enough time, lack of love, friendships, clients, job offers, etc.

Where are you telling yourself you ‘don’t have enough of X, Y or Z’? Is there really evidence to support this or is it just a belief? After all, we all have the same 24 hours in a day and there is enough money in the world for everyone. But our money mindset can limit us to seeing the possibilities which are often right in front of us.

So, I wanted to share some useful tips with you today to shift you out of a scarcity mindset and into a wealth mindset.

Firstly, let’s look at what you’re focusing on. Are you feeling frustrated that it’s just friends and family that are liking and sharing your posts and you’ve had not ONE person reach out to you and ask you about your services?

Two things here; if you haven't already check out the VA Freedom Startup, it's just what you need to help you discover the ‘how’ of getting clients. Secondly, choose to focus on what you’re grateful for, what you’re happy about. Focus on what IS working and focus on that for the next month.

Be open to receiving and showing gratitude for what you have and know that you can be grateful for what has come in but still have a desire for more. I know your mind likes to play tricks on you and keeps telling you that you don’t know enough, you don’t have the time, you don’t have enough money, etc. But just know this is just your mind trying to keep you safe, keep you in the familiar, and in the programming you've had since you were a child.

But as Brendon Burchard says in his book The Motivation Manifesto ‘we must be conscious and responsible for our beliefs and behaviours if we are ever to be free’.

A really great exercise you can do to get on top of your scarcity and lack mindset is to do a journaling exercise that David Negal talks about on his podcast.

Set aside some time to do some real solid journaling on what your mindset is about life. What is your root mindset; is it abundance or scarcity? If you find out its scarcity see if you can weed out why you think there isn’t enough and actually attempt to prove to yourself that your beliefs are false. Because if you have a really good foundation in your mind as to why your beliefs are false it will help you reprogramme your mind for success and shift into an abundant mindset.

Lastly remember, there is nothing about you that isn’t moving forward, just keep focusing on gratitude and joy and be open to receiving.
